i am trying to refine a section of mesh in my geometry uising proam and the cell refinment tool under additional tools in prepare custom mesh. If i go to model organisation and the to refinement and type in values of refinment in i,j,k directions then click refine on the GUI all i get is refinment to the original value in the refinements section NOT the value that i entered. eg. if i have cell size of ten then put a refinement level of 8 in for example then click refine all it does is divide the cells in two. Is there any way of getting round this or is it a glitch?? I am using 3.100b on nt

The easiest way to refine cells is with the cmrefine command. This command split cells by 2*2*2 by default and also creates the couples needed to keep connectivity. If you want refinement by a factor 8 you have to use cmrefine 3 times in a row on the same cset, resulting in a factor 8 refinement. If you dont want the same refinement in all directions you will have to use the command cmroption to define which direction(s) you want to refine. This is valid for Pro*AM version 3.103.519 which is the latest official released version. (The latest star version number, 3.150, is different from Pro*AM version number since they are developed separately) I recomend that you upgrade to the latest release of the star-package incl. star 3.150 and pro*am 3.103.519
