Hi everybody. I´m performing a multiprocessor calculation for an engine transient simulation. At the end of every cycle I have to restart the analisys from the last .pst file from the previous cycle analisys. This .pst file has to be modified in prostar in order to reset the cylinder conditions. I am currently doing this procedure manually. Does anybody know if is it possible to write a batch in order to do this automatically for several cycles?

More in detail, the batch should perform: 1)setup and run the first transient multiprocessor analisys 2) merge the .pst file 3) modify the .pst file in prostar 4)setup and run the second cycle transient analisys, starting from the previous modified .pst file. 5)and so on

Are you sure that you want to modify the .pst file, not .mdl, .prob, etc? As I know, .pst file is generated by STAR, .mdl, .geom, .prob, .par are generated by Pro-STAR.

Unfortunately I'm way behind you, but will appreciate a tip. I'm doing a simular analysis but have not managed to get to restart from the old .pst file, and am currently using solution mapping which is not working very well. Please advise me on what to change in the .pst file and how? I'll appreciate it very much

Sorry, I am still in doubt. (Or, I should say, I am still not clear about something ;-) ):

Are you directly modifying the .pst file with Pro-STAR? Or, you modify some condictions (BC, iteration number, etc) and then restart the computation for a few iterations, by this means, you obtained a new .pst file?

Anyway, if you want to run prostar in a batch mode, put a "-b" option, and provide the .inp file properly.

Yes, I´m modifying the .pst file. Using the commands CHANGE and UPDATE you´re able to modify the pst file.

Hi Ronnie. You can restart the analysis from the pst file using the panel "Analyis Preparation/running" in the StarGuide. If you need to modify the pst file you have to use the CHANGE and UPDATE commands. If I´ve not been clear or this is not what you want to know, tell me. Cheers Roadracer
