New -cfd code: STAR-CCM+

Has anyone seen this STAR-CCM+ code. It looks like the cfd software built as we expected it from a long time: with client-server and window tabs. You can also mesh your CAD geometry stuff into Solidworks and Pro-engineer and then start directly STAR-CCM+. It is plugged-in!!!

This is how a cfd-code should be dude!

Have you seen the demo?

Re: New -cfd code: STAR-CCM+

Hello Guys,

I want to join this forum, but I dunno how to join? I have been using Star-CD version 3.15 and have many problems so want to get some help and advice.

Are there any other forums for Star-CD users which I can join>? Thanks, Arnab

This is a good forum to get advice about STAR, Arnab. You've already joined! Just post up your questions and see what you get.

Re: New -cfd code: STAR-CCM+

I am a bit confused. Could you tell me the difference between STAR CCM and STAR CCM+ ? It sounds like STAR CCM+ is their new code in North America and STAR CCM their new code in Europe. Is this the same product or do they release two new products at the same time ? Which want should I choose.

thanks

Thierry

Re: New -cfd code: STAR-CCM+

I think, cd-adapco uses ccm as abbreviation for computational continuum mechanics. ccm+ is just the name of the software behind. I guess the + indicates that it is may be written in c+

Re: New -cfd code: STAR-CCM+

CCM does stand for Computational Continuum Mechanics meaning more than just Fluid Dynamics. I understand that there are 2 codes under development; ccm and ccm+ targeted at somewhat different markets and having different capabilities. I'm sure your local CD sales or support people would be happy to explain the differences as they did for us.

ccm+ is plugged-in directly from proe and solidwork. You do the mesh in star-proe and then open star-ccm+

I thought that CCM and CCM+ are the poly codes with CCM+ including a coupled solver.

I just get the STAR-CCM+ on linux, I will try

CCM and CCM+ are very different codes.

CCM Coded in Fortran90 command line will look familiar to Prostar users

CCM+ Coded in C++ no command line utterly new interface, GUI driven

How should we keep up with all upgrades budget-wise?

Re: New -cfd code: STAR-CCM+

Well, that should be easy. A single licence, I am told, will enable you to use any of the different codes. Just not all at the same time.
