ProAm meshing...Doubt
 
In Preprocessors like Gambit there is a facility for EDGE meshing using which we can control the number of cells and cell size in any region say.. valve region of an Internal Combustion Engine.. But if we want to fix the cell numbers and cell distribution in Proam meshing what procedure is to be adopted?

you can explore prosurf. IN that similar options are there what u are asking. I have little exp on it.

You can also explore block meshing method by using prostar. If you have SBTC notes,it would be beneficial. I think SBTC notes you can get from your installation dir >>man.

Thank you very much Wak.But the block meshing approach cannot be used for inclined valves... because when cut the block along the inclinde axis of both the valves it will interfer with each other. Hence I think Block Mesh approach may not be feasible for GDI engines with valves.

Your want to model ICE simulation right? for GDI. ProAM is automatic. Generate the mesh from surface data. Correct me if i'm wrong. Actually you can do mesh part by part by proam,valve,piston etc..but i'm not try this method yet. By this way you can control the mesh. I think Proam can't control mesh on line,face as in gambit. I've using prostar to mesh complex model,but time consuming and a lots of block creation.

Anyway,glad to share idea if u have about my explaination.

Hi,

with the Proam you can control the mesh density on the surface and inside the volume. you just have to distinguish the different surface cell types (time consuming in complex models, but it's working quite well), you can assign the different cell size and finally use the template approach for volume meshing, and play with the density factors. it is quite well explained in the tutorials
