free surface analysis

how can I make two inlet boundary regions, one for air and one for water? I would like to analyze a ship with using free surface, if anyone knows something about this problem please contact me.

Re: free surface analysis

You have 2 possibilities:

a) define 2 different inlets with same velocities. The difference will be that one will set the scalar VOF to have the value 1 (pure water) and the other BC VOF to zero, i.e. pure air (see also scalar boundaries in the STAR-GUIde).

b) define one inlet with User Option. This mean that given the knowldege of the water level, you will set the value of the scalar VOF at the boundary using the subroutine bcdefi.f. If you do not know how to use bcdefi.f, contact your local support office. They should be able to send you a small example model.
