Second invariant of velocity Gradient
 

Hi, I want to ask if somebody could help me how to calculate second invariant of velocity Gradient Qij=-1/2 dui/dxj*duj/dxi with .MAC files by using Registers...

Also I will be very glad if one could send me the necessary environmental variables for linux and where to locate them. I do not have the installation guide and it does not exist in the CD of STAR-CD...

Linux variables (may differ slightly for your case)

export STARVER=v3150 export STARDIR=/path star directory/ export STARUSR=/same as STARDIR/ export LM_LICENSE_FILE=$STARDIR/license/license.dat

If you are using ABSOFT then dont forget to set the environment for that aswell.

Dont know much about data manipulation other than that in user subroutines. But, my guess would be that you can calculate the second invariant in a subroutin and store it in a data file and then read it in the .MAC

Thank you Sheila for your response I have done the second invariant approximately as you say by writing in a file using Register operations...
