Dear all,

I have inherited a few grids that I need to solve, and I've got cracks in the grids and am having trouble correcting.

Often I've created two new shell cell types, and assigned the offending cells to be one of the new shell types. Then selected them and used the line: cshell, shell type, cset to make a master and slave set.

Then used : cpcreate, shell, master shells, slave shells.

This has generally worked, but not in this case.

Has anyone, got any other useful/good techniques for getting rid of cracks in their models.

Thanks in advance for any assistance, Dave

Dear Dave,

When I have two large surfaces that I need to cpmatch, I also create two different shell types and use the cpar command. (Sorry I can not give the full command but I do not want to give you something wrong)

If your cracks are random, I would first try merging out any vertices.

cset news fluid

vset news cset

vmerge vset,,.001

vmerge vset,,.01 (The number depends on your cell size, make it much smaller than your smallest cell)

You can also try this,-------------------------------

cset news fluid

live surf create

scheck,cset,,mani,news

ctab 99 shell 6

cmod cset (Now you know where the cracks are)

grow (vset news cset;cset add vset any)

grow

cset subs fluid

cpset news cset any

cset add cpset

cpmatch cset

Sometimes the command cpmatch cset creates couples that are not wanted, so be sure to

cpcheck,,all,,,news,,fix

you can put in a tolerance, for example lets say you are O.K. with 15% uncovered,

cpcheck,,all,,,news,.15,fix

Kevin, thanks very much for your suggestions. I'll give them a go.

Cheers, Dave
