Dear All,

Have anybody tried momentum sorce method using sormam.f subroutine in STAR CD for simulation the fan condition(pressure rise across the few cells)?

the suroutine provided in tutorial is giving compilation error to me?

Any pointers to that? Help me out in modelling a fan conditions(not MRF method)

thanks ....BV

Yes. And it works. You need:

1) to input additional source terms for taking into account the Coriolis and centrifugal forces

2) distribute the pressure increase corresponding to the fan curve over the cell layer representing your fan. The pressure increase corresponds to a volumetric flux that needs to be estimated in front of the cell layer in which you set the source terms. You may need to underrelax the calculated volumetric or mass flux.

3) what kind of compilation error do you get?

4) From which tutorial are you talking about? If you mean the subroutine template, you will be disappointed. The source terms contains only the terms for the centrifugal force.

If you need additional help, contact your local support office. They should have a small worked example with working subroutines.

Hope this helps...

Thank you 4xF,

the compilation error is because there is no Fortran complier in my machine.

Tell me one thing, If you want to model a fan using source momentum method, is that must to have fan curve with us?

thank you ones agagin,

How are you going to model the pressure rise due to the fan, if you do not have a relation of the type Delta_P = F(volumetric flow)? The fan is there to push the flow! So if you do not model it, I do not understand what you are looking after....
