Dear All,

I am trying to generate a 3-D model in STAR CD. I want to construct the geometry of a room ( I dont want to export from Solid works or anything similar). How do I go about it? Thanks in advance.

Lalitha

I would suggest that you go to the help menu on the upper right hand of the screen and go to the tutorials. Go through tutorial number one. After that you should understand how to make simple geometries using coordinate systems.

I strongly recommand to generate geometries not in StarCD.

Yes, in generell the geometry has a better quality, so I save time in repairing it. In my company we use CATIA v4 /v5 as software for machine part design. The IGES interface of CATIA has much problems (lost faces, ...), but the STL-format out of CATIA don't needs much repairing / stiching. With the resurface option in ProAM you will get a high quality surface, even for tet meshing suitable.

If you need better handling of repairing the STL-surface there is a tool called ANSA (from a greek company).

For STL manipulating I use another CFD-software called VECTIS by Ricardo. The preprocessor is nearly perfect in my opinion.
