STAR CCM+ Defining problem
Hi all,
I am currently a PHOENICS user and have just been introduced to STAR CCM+ (just started browsing through the manuals). My research requires the definition of inlet boundary layer profiles and other temperature dependent sources for ventilation studies. I have noticed that unlike INFORM in PHOENICS there is no problem defining environment to facilitate the input of user-created boundary conditions and that I need to import subroutines from a C or Fortran compiler. I don't have any experience in either of these languages. So my question is; do I need to purchase a compiler to define boundary conditions in STAR CCM+? Are they expensive? In short - no
You can use field functions within ccm+ quite easily and they dont require a compiler, they use a language similar to C but somewhat less involved, there is a coding guide in the help menus. Further to this you can simply use tables to define the boundary conditions negating the need for any form of coding at all. I used to use phoenics and I think you will be pleasantly supprised by ccm+, if you imagine the effort required to learn phoenics as mount everest then learning ccm+ is like a bump in the road!! (you will also find it is a lot more flexible and up to date too) |
