variable mesh size

Hi,

I want to know how to create 3D grids with variable cell size using prostar. That is when i create blocks around a model for external aerodynamic study, i want smaller cell size near the wall of the model and the cell size should increase as it moves away. How do i implement this in Prostar.

Regards, Prathima

Re: variable mesh size

I assume that you have a solid model of the fuid. After you prepare the surface and generate the subsurface, go to create custom mesh. There you can set the cell size you want on the surface and the smallest cell size you want at geometry changes. This will generate a large block mesh. Then go to the generate mesh panel and use your custom mesh as the starting point. See Section 6 of the proam manual. Tom

I would suggest use pro-surf and then pro-am same as Tom said. They will provide you better mesh then ever.

If you're building a block mesh in ProSTAR, you can set the "space factor" for the edges of the block which go from the wall to the exterior
