How accurate is cell coupling?

Hi, As we all know that couple cell is used in StarCD to join meshes which are not having cell to cell connectivity. Can anybody tell me what approximations are considered in StarCD while doing this. How accurate the results will be, and what are the points one should keep in mind while using the cell coupling. Thanks.

Hi, cell coupling should be used only if inevitable. As fas as possible, make sure you have a conformal mesh for your analysis.

However if you still go ahead with a non-conformal mesh with cell coupling, then make sure that you have almost the same mesh distribution across the interface.

In STAR4 there is absolutely no approximations involved in cell to cell coupling. That said, the general rules of meshing still apply. You can't couple 1 face to 1 thousand and expect anything good to come out of it.
