about 300$ I think, it depends if you take the cd-rom or the download version and if you take the printed manuals.

There are probably various prices, true of all engineering softwares:

- List price (the maximum they think anyone would ever pay).

- Typical price (post discount price, kept very secret).

- Asymptotic price (price per additional seat when you've already got loads).

And to complicate things further, you can probably chose between an outright purchase or annual leasing.

You are confusing providing solution and selling software. cd-adapco sells solution so it is possible to have license of star-cd at 500$ per year if it is part of a solution package that is convenient for you.

For example a yearly package including 3 month of es-vtm, 2 training courses for 4 people + 1 month consulting + 4licenses of star-cd or starccM+ for 2 years.

The package might consequently make the cost of the star-cd license at 500$ per year.

Now another package with 1 license of star-cd, 1 license of es-aero and 2 support visits will bring the equivalent cost of the license at 20,000$.

It depends on your solution, what your company need for the year and somehow the sales guy you negociate with.
