compatible linux and Starcd

Dear all,

I have just bought a new dell workstation, Dell Precision T5400, and I have tried to install linux on it but failed 3 times.

Enterprise 3 and Red Flag 5 couldnt find the disk to install linux(due to the hard drive?) and CentOS 3.9 seemed to be incompatible with the video card of the computer.

Could anyone please recommend a linux that is compatible both with my computer and Starcd(including the use of es-ice)?

Details of the modules are as follows:

Base: Intel Xeon E5420 (2.50GHZ, 1333Mhz, 2x6MB,Quad Core)

Memory: 4GB DDR2 667 Quad Channel FBD Memory (4x1GB)

Video Card: 256MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro FX 570, Dual Monitor DVI or VGA Graphics Card (ELGA11)

Hard Drive: 320GB (7,200 rpm) SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with NCQ and 16MB DataBurst Cache™

Optical Devices: 48X CDRW/DVD

Raid Controller: C1 SATA No RAID for 1 Hard Drive

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

1. I have same problems with new hardware and old OS! Your problem is chip controller. Try different positions in bios for hard drives. 2. try opensuse, for example 10.3. It,s very flexible OS for hardware.
