Hey,
I am new to star-cd, and just wondering the best way to approach the modeling of combustion in a diesel engine. I was hoping to be able to use es-ICE, but have found out its not available on windows. Is there an equivalent that tool to help with ICE in star-cd for windows? If not, does anybody have any recommendations? Thanks for any help you can give me. Nick |

also, how would star-CCM rate against star-CD now in terms of ICE?

es-ICE is pretty much the only choice unless you don't want to include valve movement. If you have a license for es-ICE then why not just install Linux on your machine....

Hi, I have to tell you than there isn't any other tool for the ICE modeling in STAR. If you want to move piston and valves in Star you need es-ice. But I know they are working on the es-ice for windows... Concerning star-ccm+: now es-ice is not working with ccm+ and combustion models too (Lagrangian multiphase sould be a new feature).

I am in the same boat as Nick. I will be doing a model without valves as I don't have access to es-ice. I have access to version 4.02.003 and 3.26.004. I have been going through tutorial 13 in version 3.26.004 because there is no ICE tutorial for version 4.02.003 but am stuck at the CFD Analysis (STAR) part of the tutorial where the solution is run and it says to type 'star' into the STAR-CD session window to do so. Which window is this talking about? I have just run the analysis interactively through the GUIde for all the other tutorials i have done (without moving mesh). Also any other tips or references to resources relating to a simple ICE model would be awesome.
