I would need the system requirements for star-cd and some pre and post processors.

This is strongly depending on the models you want to run and the environment you are working on.

The model can have around 2 milions cells and it is planned to run on windows xp. 3GB RAM, CPU Quadro and 3Ghz, would be enough to finish the model in a acceptable time (1-2 hours)

I would recommend that you increase your memory, because the number of cells depends on memory. I had similar experience before, my memory was also 3GB but I could not run cases with over million cells, although I used Linux.
