Default Star CCM+ issue (VOF and Non newtonian power law)

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with a case: I want to study a bubble injection in a liquid whose viscosity is characterized with the herschel bulkley law (Non newtonian generalized power law in star CCM+). It seems that there are some incompatibilities between VOF and this viscosity model. The simulation won't run and I have this message : "Attempt to access unallocated NonNewtonianViscosity storage in cells in fluid "

I have tested VOF with constant liquid viscosity : it works

And single phase flow with the Non newtonian generalized power law : it also works.

If someone has a solution or is aware of this, it would be great.

Thanks a lot

Sam

the best is to specify viscosity through field function. it works ok

Oh ok, thank you for your answer !

Now I'll have to the variable name for the strain rate, gonna have a look in the guide, unless you know it ?

Thanks again. Sam

I found the solution. Actually the default settings do not provide all the field function. One must activate "Temporary Storage Retained" in the "Solver" "Segregated flows". Then Strain rate variable and other cell gradients can be reached.
