Specifiying concentrations of pollutants

Hello,

I am currently working on a project aimed at modeling pollutant dispersion in a channel using Star-CCM+. I have already generated the volume mesh and I am now working on the "modeling part". However, I do not know how to specify the initial concentrations of pollutants and the concentrations of pollutants at boundaries in order to obtain the concentration profiles of each pollutant along the length of the channel. Can someone help me out?

Thank you very much.

Best regards, Kreshny

Re: Specifiying concentrations of pollutants

Kreshny,

I think it depends on whether your pollutant is passive or active. If it is passive you can set up the source at the inlet (kg_pollutant/kg_fluid), and volumetric sources inside the domain.

Also, if you are using a passive scalar and your flow is turbulent make sure the turbulent schmidt number is correct for you application.
