Hi Salam,

sounds that you need interFoam. If your case has not so many details it could be possible to make a hex mesh. Can you send me a sketch of the geometry?

Best regards
Marco

Hi Marco,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I think I need interFoam, however you know better so you can decide on this. I have attached a files please have a look at it and let me know if you can model the case. The dimension of the funnel are :
working volume = 1.5 litres.
It consists of a cone 6 inches (152 mm) across and 12 inches in height (305 mm) to the apex of which is fixed a tube 2 inches (50.8 mm) long and 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) internal diameter.

By the way , I have been using Salome to model the case, I can then export it to OpenFoam, and run setFields, then I decomposePar it , so far it goes well. However, when I run in Parallel it does not work and I get error massage. But when I use a different shape lets a cubic shape , every thing works perfectly. I can send you the errors that I get as well. I modified the Dambreak case.

Best regards,

Salam

Hi Salam,

did you try to run OF in serial?
However I haven't work with salome but the case looks simple enough for blockMesh. I make a sketch of the problem (attachement) and if its ok I can create a blockMeshDict with the o-grid shown in the picture. Furthermore I would add a volume (cylinder shape) on the bottom of bottleneck with a volume of maybe V=2 ltr.? You can also contact me by email: marco.riedel@fh-zwickau.de

Best regards
Marco
