Hi,

I am modelling an aorta and trying to input 4D inlet flow. I understand Ansys is able to input flow as 3D (ie x,y,t), but I need to put in flow as x,y,z,t. I have my data in an excel/text file and am wondering how I can input it into my model as the inlet fluid BC. Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks

Not that I know of, the profile files only accept 3 spatial locations or 2 spatial and one temporal.

There is no way you make your inlet boundary flat instead of 3D?

No, it moves in x, y and z a substantial amount so I can't remove one of the spatials

Can you describe the motion with a CEL expression? If the inlet is only translating it might work, but not if the diameter also changes with time.

I don't know what CEL is, so I am not sure if it can or not. I have a mechanical file for the aorta shell with the inlet moving in x, y, z (see motion attached). Then I have a cfx file with inlet velocity u,v,w specified on a grid (0.5*0.5mm) for each timestep to correspond with the moving inlet from the mechanical. It is a 2 way fsi.

Do the CFX tutorials for examples on CEL.

I have not been able to confirm this, but I suspect that moving the mesh of an inlet, outlet or opening normal to the boundary is not fully supported and could lead to errors. Not sure of that, but better check before you do it. I would recommend putting a section of tube with a rigid boundary to get around this problem and simplify the problem.
