Arc simulation in cfx

Hey everyone, i am trying to capyure the physics involved in the arc using ANSYS CFX. i have the ARC ENERGY w.r.t time as the input. What i am basically interested is the shock waves that are created during the arcing phenomenon. can anyone please suggest a way in which i can simulate the arcing phenomenon and capture the desired results.

thanks in advance.

An arc is a plasma and CFX does not have a plasma model. Is the plasma bit important or can that be treated as just a hot ideal gas in your case? That depends on what you are trying to achieve with the model.

thanks Glenn Horrocks,

We are not concentrating on Plasma. Our aim is to estimate the effect of arc enery in terms of pressure rise.

Please let us know what is the best case to give an input boundary to simulate the arc energy effect w.r.t time.

How does arc energy lead to a pressure rise? I fyou cna write a mathematical expression which describes it then you will probably be abel to implement it in CFX.
