Wind Tunnel

Hi,

Apologies if this question has been asked before - I did do a quick search before posting this :-)

I want to model the airflow over a high-speed hydroplane and am looking for a tutorial that shows how to construct a wind tunnel environment in Ansys CFX. I've done the obvious and looked on google, but with little success - could one of you please point me in the direction of a guide/tutorial that explains the methodology for a complete noob?

Hi!
Do you mean how to create the geometry or the mesh in ANSYS?
Are you using workbench btw?

How to create the geometry. I've played around with it and I've added a domain "box", I just need a few pointers as to what to do next.

It's all about inserting (or creating) your hydroplane geometry body and then freeze it. Then create the wind tunnel fluid domain and subtract the to bodies to create a fluid area (wind tunnel) with the shape of the hydroplane missing.

It is of the same process as other CFD simulations, mesh the domain, set the boundary conditions and solver parameters, and then solve. If you are new to this kind of problem, I would suggest you to look for some papers which conducted the studies like you are doing.

I think its down to your personal preference on how to the create the geometry.
I would just make the geometry of the Wind tunnel domain and the model in a CAD software and then just import the geometry to ANSYS.

It's probably too late, but this guy has made a set of wonderful tutorials. His are in regard to vehicle aerodynamics, but it can be applied to aircraft.
