Dear All,
I am going to model a perforated cone. The flow (gas) transports through a perforated cone. 01. As the cone diameter varies with streamwise direction, do I want to specify 'loss model' along streamwise direction? 02. How can I get empirical formulas for Resistance Coefficient? I would be much grateful if you can help me to clarify those. Thanks. |

You can get information on resistance coefficients from manufacturers of this equipment or your own test data. You can also estimate it from basic fluid mechanics - for instance assuming perforations behave like lots of little oriface flows in parallel. Expect a large margin of error when you do this, of course.

Dear ghorrocks,
Thanks a lot for the reply. Actually, the applying a perforated cone is to increase the pressure drop and so I don’t have more data. Ok, I’ll try with your suggestion. Thanks again. |

Oh yes, and of course there is another option - do a simulation of the actual perforated design just to get the resistance of it, then use that resistance in a larger system model.

Dear ghorrex,
Thanks again for your sugssion. I desided to do experiments and try to get the resistance. I will try CFX model after then. Thank you very much. |
