record/output values from rbstate expression

Hi all and apologies if this has been covered. I'm fairly sure it will have been but haven't been able to find anything either on these forums or elsewhere. (if it has please point me in the right direction)

I'm running a transient simulation with a floating rigid body (2-Fluid, 4DOF) and as part of the analysis I am looking at its movement and rotation around two axis.

In order to do this I am using the rbstate function however I believe that this only works during the solve so cannot be used during post analysis. Using this method when I try to plot/export the expression values I get the error "The following unrecognised names were referenced:" followed by all words in the expression.

Is there a way I can save/export the expression values during each timestep while solving or is there another method which can be used to export the rigid body properties I am intersted in.

Cheers,

(Running CFX 14)

(Edited- rbstate expression ->rbstate function, used post analysis ->used during post analysis)

Yes, use a monitor point set to an expression, and set the expression to the CEL variable you want to watch. Then it is available in the sover manager as the simulation progresses.

Cheers for the help ghorrocks, Unfortunately I dont think my question was clear.

My problem was that I hadn't realised that CSV data can be directly extracted from solver plots. (guess there isn't a way of plotting monitor point data in post).

Many thanks

No, you cannot plot monitor point data in CFD-Post. So monitor point data should be extracted as a CSV can be analysed using any mathematics package from there.

You mean that Data of monitor point can be extracted in CFX - Solve manager ?

One of the new features in 14.5 is that you now can plot monitor data in a chart in Post. It is still beta but it works as far as I know.

But yes, you can extract monitor data from the solver manager by right clicking in the monitor plot.
