Boundary Condition-Location isn't there.

So I've created a part in ICEM called "TRIP" now when I import that mesh to CFX-PRE and try to set a boundary Condition to TRIP. TRIP doesn't appear under the location box, all my other surface parts are there... whats going on am I forgetting something?

Okay so I think I might have found the problem. In ICEM when I right click on a part and click "info" all the parts that do show up in CFX-PRE under "location" show that they have "Mesh info" my TRIP part has no mesh info I'm pretty sure this is what's preventing my TRIP part from showing up on the location list.

However I'm not sure why it doesn't have mesh info and the other parts do.

CFX-Pre does not import solid/surface/line/points from ICEM. It only imports mesh. So you need to put some mesh bits into TRIP for it to appear in CFX-Pre. And not mesh point or line object either as they are ignored. For a boundary condition it needs to be 2D mesh objects.

If the part was created after the mesh it won't have mesh associated with it. There are tools in ICEM to associate mesh elements with parts. Or you could generate the mesh again and it should notice if elements are located on the part. Maybe you should post a picture of the mesh around the problem part.

Okay yeah so it's starting to make sense. I have recomputed my pre mesh and then converted it to an unstructured mesh and still no luck. I'm going to try closing the mesh and redoing it all together. If that doesn't work I'll try to find the mesh tools you were talking about and hopefully that will work.

Thanks for the help I'll keep you posted.
