Average Velocity

Hello,

I simulate a velocity distribution in an exhaust channel.
After solve I check a velocity distribution (as contour) in an selected area.
Is there a posibility to show one average value of velocity in this selected area? (for exampe Area1, d=200mm, v=+1,2 m/s)

Yes, I think you can put CEL expressions in a text object.

ave(velocity)@area

Hello,

In CFD-post I wrote an expression: ave(Velocity)@Area but I have an error:

"The following unrecognised name was referenced: Area."

Velocity and Area are under default variables in CFX.

Rasool just wrote the word area to be general. Really put the name of that specific surface there.
ave(Velocity)@B1.122 or Outlet or something like that.

The easiest way to do that is by using "Function Calculator" in CFD-Post (tab Calculators).

If you want to monitor this quantity during a CFD simulation, you will have to define the suggested CEL in CFX-Pre under "Output Control" (tab Monitor).

use areaAve()@ instead, ave()@ will most likely not give you the true average velocity over the surface
