Multiple Zones in Ansys CFX 14.5
Hello everyone.
Is it possible to disable a specific solver in a certain computational zone in CFX, while it is still active in the other zone(s)? I'm simulating a furnace in Ansys CFX 14.5. There are 2 zones with a wall as common boundary (an interface), so only heat may transfer between these two zones. One of them (say Zone 1), is defined as mixture and the combustion process occurs in it, while the other zone (Zone 2) contains a solidification process in a fluid. I've tried FLUENT and I couldn't do the simulation because when I enable Combustion Solver (Species Transport: Eddy Dissipation Model) and Solidification Solver, they are present in both zones which is not physical and causes some serious problems. Now, can CFX handle this? Thank you for your kind responses... |
Yes, FCX should be able to do this.
But I bet the coupling between the combustion and the solidification is very weak with the intermediate wall in the middle. This means they can be done as separate simulations and that simplifies things immensely. |

CFX has no solidification model. That is why there is tutorial on it.
