Hello

I'm trying to model the heat transfer between two different fluids (H2Ovl and Air), and I used the following configuration interface:

DOMAIN INTERFACE: hot_cold
Boundary List1 = hot_cold Side January 1
Boundary List2 = hot_cold Side 1
Interface Type = Fluid Fluid
INTERFACE MODELS:
Option = General Connection
FRAME CHANGE:
Option = None
END
HEAT TRANSFER:
Conservative Interface Option = Flux
INTERFACE HEAT TRANSFER MODEL:
Material = Copper
Option = Thin Material
Thickness = 1 [mm]
END
END
MASS AND MOMENTUM:
Option = No Slip Wall
END
PITCH CHANGE:
Option = None
END
END
MESH CONNECTION:
Option = GGI
END
END

The problem I have is that the "cold fluid" warming fails. apparently exists heat transfer in one direction only, as the hot fluid (air).

I would appreciate your help.

Greetings.

Did you take into account that the heat storage capacity of liquid water is orders of magnitude higher than that of air?

If you evaluate the results more accurately, I am sure that you will find a minor temperature increase in the cold fluid.

Hello flotus1

I'll change the material of the hot fluid (higher specific heat capacity).

Greetings.

Hi Cosme
Can u tell me how you activated thin wall between two fluids. I am also modeling heat transfer between two diff fluid separated by thin solid wall. I don’t wish to mesh thin solid domain. I know in Fluent we can assign thickness in wall BC. Please help if someone knows how to do same in CFX.

Make it an interface, and then look at the interface options. You can put a thermal resistance on it, you can connect or disconnect it and all sorts of other things.

Complementing what Glenn says, once you generate the interface, on the second tab you just click on the option of heat transfer, and there you will have different wall options.
