heat transfer in cfx

while modelling heat exchanger problem in ansys-cfx how to model the water-aluminium interface? i have modelled with thermal contact resistance. is this the correct way? actually what is the real boundary conditions for modelling a circular heat exchanger with cold water on onside and hot water on other side with aluminium as the metal between the two? can you provide a tutorial for the above problem. please help me..

I think you can do this using thin surfaces. I think you select the hot water / cold water interface, insert a thin surface with the thermal conductivity and thickness of aluminium.

I could be mistaken as I've never actually used thin surfaces - I've only read about it.

The method I've just described is computationally cheap compared to physically including a solid aluminium domain and solving for the energy equation in that domain.

thank you RicochetJ for your reply...actually i am simulating a real problem in a R&D institute.....one thing is can we simulate heat-exchanger itself in Ansys-Fluent? there is a model named heat exchanger in Fluent...dats y i am asking....thanks in advance...

Yes, Fluent can simulate heat exchangers too. This is the CFX forum, questions about Fluent are better asked here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/fluent/

I simulate a heat exchanger in the program CFX.
my email is davidrlc89@gmail.com.
I did three domains, two fluids (internal and annular) and one solid (pipe) and a domain interface, active heat transfer.

It's simple really.

thanks davidrlc89 can you provide me any tutorials for the same problem? i am also simulating the same kind of problem..how the interface is created? did u give turbulence to the flow? please help me...
