calculating time residence in an axial pump
 
Hi,
I'm trying to calculate time residence of blood in an axial blood pump and I have no idea how to do it.
Thanks for any advice.

Steady State Solution?

Short answer:

-Create a new varible i.e. rtime [s]
-Create subdomain of your whole domain and set a constant source term for rtime in that subdomain
-Set rtime = 0 at your inlet
-Run solution solving for this variable (you can freeze your old solution and just run solving for this variable if you already have a result).

For steady state simulations you can also do this using a streamline. This has the advantage that it is just post-processing, you do not need to do a new simulation.

Put a streamline on your domain starting from the time=0 point. On the color tab of the streamline select mode=time. That's all, very simple.
