Hi

I want to monitor a variable, e.g. mass average of temperature on an isosurface, e.g. r=constant. How can I create the isofurface in CFD pre?

I know that we can do monitoring on defined boundaries and interfaces but I do not know how to do monitoring on a surface which is not part of boundaries or interfaces.

Thank you in advance.

You cannot create isosurfaces in CFX-Pre.

Thank you for your quick response. So, there is no way we can monitor how a variable change on a surface (other than boundaries and interfaces) during the calculation. I tried "new monitor" in CFX Solver also and I realize that we can only select the boundaries or interfaces for monitoring. It seems that FLUENT is better in monitoring because we can create surface that we want to monitor during the simulation.

I think there is some new functionality in V15 which allows you more flexibility in definition of location objects in the solver. But I am not very familiar with it and not sure it will do what you are looking for. So have a look into it, but I suspect it cannot be done in CFX. And yes, Fluent does have more flexibility in definition of monitoring stuff during run-time than CFX.

Hi. Could anyone please help me? I want to get a 3D iso-surface similar to these movies that published in this group using FLUENT? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLM9dF-m4zs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCW9ce-qm6E

This is trivially easy in CFD-Post. Put a isosurface of volume fraction = 0.5 and animate it over time and camera position. Colour the isosurface by velocity or whatever you like.

The hard bit is generating a reasonable simulation of the flow in the first place to generate the animation.
