I am a new user of CFX.

Can anybody send me tutorial or help me to model atomization of water in CFX when it passes through a nozzle at high velocity? I tried to go through the documents, but i could not figure out.

Do you want to model the detailed breakup of the liquid at the individual drop level (like this http://gerris.dalembert.upmc.fr/gerr....html#htoc16)? There is no tutorial like this, so you have to develop it from the free surface examples. But if I was doing it I would probably do it using gerris rather than CFX (blasphemy on this forum I know, but gerris is very good for surface tension models)

Or are you looking for models of the spray as a whole and the primary and secondary breakup and the droplet tracks which result from it? Then look at the LISA and other spray models which come with CFX.

thank you for the reply.

Actually i want to model venturi scrubber, which will need particle tracking.
Could you plz give some hints? I have no experience with "gerris". Whether its possible to model in CFX?

I assume you are not looking to model the microscopic processes where the droplets are reduced to a fine spray and end up on the device walls. I assume you are modelling this device as a whole and are interested in the overall device performance.

In that case then have a look at the primary and secondary spray breakup models in the particle modelling section of the documentation. Most of these models were developed for modelling fuel injection in IC engines, but hopefully some of them will be applicable to your flow regime.

You are right in saying that I am modelling this device as a whole and are interested in the overall device performance.

Any tutorial is available for the fuel injection in IC engines?

You would have to contact ANSYS support for them. Or there might be some on the ANSYS customer page.

I would also strongly recommend getting the papers referenced in the documentation with those models. You really need to understand those models and their limitations to be able to use them.
