hi every one
I've modeled the bucket spillway, I have two gols in the flow simulation:
1- I would like to calculate the distance jet launching, i know should use the formula projectiles, but how do you define in cfx???
2- i have decide optimize radius of bucket,So we have the most current launch.
please help me
thanks a lot

Surely the first step is to start with hand written calculations. Then try a few different radii and bucket distances, run simulations on those and compare the results?

hi dear RicochetJ
That means you, i considered different radius of bucket and run my model, then with hand calculations compute jet launching???
Do not be using the software will automatically calculate the jet launch?
Software does not have the ability to optimize??
thanks a lot

You could use parameterisation and goal optimisation in Workbench. I don't have any experience using goal optimisation so you need to read the literature.

Mr CFD's point is that you should spend 10 minutes doing some hand calculations to estimate what would be a good design and do simulations near that point - as each simulation is likely to take a day each, and probably a week to develop the method (if you know what you are doing).

dear ghorrocks
I want to radius of bucket with goal achieving maximum jet launching To optimize.
I have two questions :
1- Is to optimize the radius of the bucket that I said goal in the above, calculations must be written hand and software optimization feature is not.
2- How to obtain distance jets launch? i know trajectory law is written by formula Which is given below
but i how define this in cfx and use it?
please help me
thanks a lot

I think you have missed the point again.

Simple hand calculations will give an approximate answer, but will only take a few minutes. You can do a simple optimisation on the hand calculations quickly.

Simulations will be much slower but more accurate. You can make your hand calculation result more accurate with hand calculations.

CFX works out the flow of the fluid using the Navier Stokes equations. To get it to launch a jet you have to configure it so a jet will form.
