Naming selections in CFX pre

Hello everybody, I have one simple question: is it possible to name selection in CFX pre, because I have received a msh. file without properly defined borders and would like to define it all over again.

Unfortunately mesh is unstructured. I have tried to convert it into geometry file in FE modeler, but i have problems converting it into parasolid (this option does not appear). Do you maybe know the easiest way to convert it in geom file? Thank you very much, I am new to ansys and have a lot to learn

In CFX-Pre the mesh primitives will be shown, if any exist. If none exist then your only option is to go to software which can edit meshes (ICEM is my weapon of choice, but others can do it as well) and manually define the mesh regions and boundaries. This will generate a mesh with boundaries on it for use in CFX.

Parasolid is a solid modelling format, not a mesh format. That is not going to work.

Are you trying to generate a solid model from a mesh? This is often tricky - you can convert your mesh to STL and import the STL surface into many solid modelling packages. This is messy and gives horrible models composed of zillions of facets.

Thanks for the response. Actually I have succeeded converting msh. file to solid geometry model using FE modeler and now I can simply build new mesh. However I prefer using old msh. file, because it is propely defined. But I have problems opening msh. file in ICEM ( Error in opening Mesh file.
Unloaded unstructured domain), and I have changed suffix to .uns, but it does not open mesh. However if i load this mesh in Fluid flow (CFX) I cannot change it anymore.

To get it into ICEM you will need to do a bit of juggling. Take it into CFX-Pre and generate a def file. Just a dummy one will be fine. Then you can load the def file in ICEM.
