Hello Experts,

I have two parallel plates lying vertically at some distance with 200 mm gap. Flow comes and passes through these parallel plates. I would like to know the average velocity in between the plates. ie from top to bottom what is the average velocity?.

Is there any way I can find average velocity in CFD post.

Thank you for your comments.

Regards

There are many ways to do this depending on how you define your average velocity.

* Put a plane through the middle and calculate the areaAve normal velocity
* Put the region between the plates in a volume, and calculate the volumeAve velocity.

Then you have RMS averages, flow rates which can give you an average velocity and many more. Depends what average velocity you are talking about. And CFD-Post can calculate any of these quite easily.

Thank you!

I have tried the following:
1) Load your result file on CFD-Post
2) Click the "Calculators" Tab
3) You can then get all kind of properties with the "Function Calculator"

and it helped for me
