PPD & PMV value

Hello,

I'ma new user to CFX ANSYS 15.0.

I did a comparison between simulation on occupied room thermal comfort study. I have a few problem,

1.How can I calculate the PPD & PMV?

2. So far I can get the MRT calculation by the comfort factor macros. Yet it can't be displayed in CFX-Pro on the surface.

Please do advise.

Thank you.

Please, no jargon. What is PPD, PMV and MRT?

What do you mean by CFX-Pro?

MRT (Mean Radiant Temperature)
PMV (Predicted Mean Vote)
PPD (Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied)

I already followed the guide "A CFD-Post macro is available for this purpose, and is accessed using the Macro Calculator from the Tools menu". In the solution part, I plot the MRT contour on the plane but the results is failed. But when the calculator calculate it showed a value for the plane.

By means, in the legend of MRT, contour for T=289K is yellow color but when I plot on the surface, the yellow color did not appear.

I have found comfort-factors.ccl and usr_pmvppd.F file but I have failed here.

The CFD-Pro is a typo error.

Please do advice.

Thanks

Hello Tanty Ali,
I am also working on a similar project. Since you have figure out how to plot MRT in ANSYS. Could you please do me a favor and tell me, what model does ANSYS CFX uses to calculate mean radiant temperature and what is the equation for it?
As far as I know it doesn't use the conventional ASHRAE method to determine the MRT based on surrounding wall temperature.
I would really appreciate your help.
I will have to plot PMV and PPD but I am now in very initial stage and not really familiar with ANSYS CFX. So at first I just wanted to know the equation of MRT used by CFX.
Regards!!

Hi Madeinspace,

I haven't solved yet the MRT, PPD and PMV issues. Maybe because i can't access to fortran compiler.

Sorry for this.I have changed the simulation to Flow Simulation using Solidwork cos I'm running out
of time for submission.

Regards.

Yes,
Flow simulation is very easy with powerful GUI. I have also been using Flow Simulation but been advised to change to CFX. So I was trying to give it a try.
Thanks anyway.
