Conservative temperature
2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I am doing a transient thermal simulation and i am having some trouble to understand what I am seeing. The simulation is a thermal study of valves. The heat transfer between the boundaries is set to 'conservative heat flux' all around the ring. In the first picture, one can see the temperature set to 'hybrid' and the contour seems to be pretty symmetrical. In the second image, the temperature is set to 'conservative' and it is not symmetrical anymore. I understand the difference between conservative and hybrid values but i am having trouble to understand why the conservative values are not symmetrical. I agree the values of temperature should be different from hybrid to conservative but the contours should be similar no? Do you have any ideas ? Thanks |
The conservative values will be mesh sensitive - if the mesh is different then the conservative values will change but the hybrid values will not. Does this explain it?

Yes, i think I get it. It makes sense that it is mesh dependant since the conservative values are calculated based on the control volume.
