Option 1)

Open the cfx enviroment click on HELP (surprise!) Select CFX4 documentation

Option 2)

Find the directory you have installed CFX in. under doc you can find PDF files

If you dont have CFX you dont need the manual !!!!!

????? As long the manual is a part of the software, and not a hardcopy, I guess the help document is also available in a Crack version.

I have seen a crack CFX4.3 made by LND. And there are not manual part in order to minimize the package. So I guess perhaps he got this version.

Interesting. You mention LND as if we should all know what that is exactly. Care to share some more information?

Dan.

I guess you then are right, I was just so naive I did not think anyone was cracking CFD codes (but why not with those prices - bit more expensive that the new games). Can I search for CFD codes on the Warez pages? Would be interesting to test other CFD codes for free, and then of course purchase them, in case they are better suited for my work than CFX.

A quick search of the internet and I've managed to find crack versions of CFX-4.3, TASC-FLOW, Fluent etc. I also didn't realise that such software was "Freely" available, excuse the pun!!

(1). Any hint in locating the sites? I would be interested in checking out some of these codes. e-mail to me would be fine. (2). When more people are checking out the codes, we should have better understanding about the capabilities of the codes. (3). I always think that share ware type or free demo type is a good way to reach the potential users. (unless they have something to hide from the potential users.)

Dear John,

I agree with you, but I do think Phoenics has a shareware version, and am I sure that you can agree with any software vendor to obtain a version for a limited trial period. If not, then they must be hiding something and you do not want that code. By following this approach you will also (IMPORTANT) have access to the manual. I really don't see what a CFD code can be used for without a manual or access to helpdesk.

(Wonder what the price is for a cracked CFD code; maybe a new business area for all us under paid CFD specialists, but who are we then going to sell the code to?)

Regards Jan

(1). I think, a qualified CFD expert or professional should be given a documented version of the commercial code free of charge, so that the code can be evaluated in many different ways to make sure that solution is acceptable or not. (2). Without this beta testing of third party evaluation, it is going to be very hard for the industry to make any real progress. (3). It is the healthy progress which is important to the industries. So, code limitations are not dis-advantages at all. Without this step-by-step careful check out, it is wasteing the users' time and effort. (4). Making money is just the basic requirement for survival. But without third party checkout, the industry can't recognize the limitations and thus there is no future (no logical ways to make improvement. I don't think that users are looking for a code which can solve every single cfd problem.)

I agree with John. In fact, every software must be check out by third party. and most of vendor know the bugs in their software and so thy don't want other to test them at all. P.S.: Don't talk about cracked software again.

Dear Li, It was you that started to mention the cracked version, strange to mention an item and then latter stating that it is not a topic for discussion.

The software from a vendor is tested every day, buy the users, and many bugs are found and reported.

(1). The Internet War has already started, for example, the war in early May this month between Chinese Internet groups and US Internet Users. The news is everyhwere. (2). If one defines CFD as a CFD code, then I would say that there is not much future for CFD in this way. (3). But if we exchange ideas and techniques to solve fluid mechanics problems,(through some affordable means)then CFD will be very exciting for many people. (4). Locking into the form of a code perhaps is the source of the problem. Asking the users of a black box to do debugging is a stupid idea!

Dear John,

I am not sure if we disagree or not,

This post was about a person, who did not have the manual, or could not find it; the reason could be that it was a cracked version as mentioned by Li Xinfeng.

1)Using a CFD code without a manual is stupid (or at least very difficult) 2) I do not believe that a cracked CFD code give more insight into the code than a licensed version, I cant see how that should be possible. (Unless the cracked version is the source code) 3)Access to the source code would give the option to really look into the code, if one can understand it. But it is very hard to believe that a company where a major part of the income comes from their code is willing to distribute it to every one for free, and a total disaster to hand out the source code for free. 4)I do think that the people, who are debugging the CFX code, not just comparing it with measurements, have access to the source code. But this is the point where I am not sure if I understand you correct. You can ask a person with very high skills in programming to debug a code, and he/she will end up with comments about the structure, nothing about the physics the code is solving. This part is also important, but it is more important that a person with some insight into the physics is checking the behaviour of the code, to check if it obtains results as expected. Regards Jan
