Does any one have experiance with setting up a one dimensional plane shock wave simulation?

If so I could do with all the help available

Hi Menon,

For simulation, all you need to do is to prescribe the left and right states for parameters like density, pressure and velocity to represent the shock(which is a discontinuity)for all the cells. This is the initial condition for the shock. Then as the computations are marched in time, you need to check how the shock propagates(use the maximum shock speed for defining the CFL(Courant-Friedrichs-Levy)no). Hope this clears your doubt.

Regards
