Hydrostatic pressure in 5.5

Hi,

I have a problem with the setup of a large high tank (70 meter) which is filled with water.

I have set the hydrostatic pressure within the tank since it is fill with water, but has no free surface.

As far as I can see the only way to do this is to use the free surface model, but the problem has no free surface.

Does any on has a hints ?

Thanks a lot.

Regards

Jens

Hi Jens,

There was a long discussion of this topic sometime last year on the forum. See this thread for explanations:

Re: Hydrostatic pressure in 5.5

Hi

Thanks for the reply. But I still think the answer are bit confusing, since as I understand CFX-5.5 does no include total sum of pressure only there relative pressure distribution. (So it does no have hydrostatic pressure) So in order to visulize it I have to include into CFX-Post and add it to relative pressure.

That seems strange, since there are a lot of cases where it does matter.

It this assumtion okay ?

Re: Hydrostatic pressure in 5.5

Hi Jens,

This is no longer the case in 5.5.1. The hydrostatic pressure contribution is included in the Pressure, plus an additional vector, Buoyancy Force, is also provided.
