K-e model

Hi ,

For the turbulence model how can we estimate the value of turbulence intensity at the inlet if we don't have experimental data ? i guess this value will help in estimating the value of k and epsilon.

Thanks.

P.S i am CFX5.5.1 user

Re: K-e model

Read down in this forum. There are several references to textbooks about turbulence such as Rodi (1980s) who provide explanation to this effect on a case per case basis.

Re: K-e model

If the flow is fully developed, the turbulence intensity may be as high as a few percent.

There is a empirical correlation for pipe flows for turbulence intensity:

I=0.16*(Re)**(-1.8)
