Hello

I get this error when running my 3D fluidised bed case: (taken from output file, i.e fortran compiles fine)

THE VOLUME FRACTIONS AT THE BOUNDARY NODE BETWEEN CELL ( 1 1 1) AND CELL ( 1 0 1) IN BLOCK BLOCK-NUMBER-1 DO NOT SUM TO 1.0.

THE VOLUME FRACTIONS AT THE BOUNDARY NODE BETWEEN CELL ( 2 1 1) AND CELL ( 2 0 1) IN BLOCK BLOCK-NUMBER-1 DO NOT SUM TO 1.0.

etc....

TEN VOLUME FRACTION BOUNDARY NODE ERRORS HAVE BEEN DISPLAYED OUT OF A TOTAL OF 31296 *** ERRORS IN SETTING REAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

THE CFX-4 SOLVER HAS BEEN STOPPED BY SUBROUTINE CMDBCS

I have checked my fortran file many times, infact the same file (with a few minor adjustments) work for the 2d case. Why will it not work for 3d, and b4 anyone else asks, Yes I have checked that my Volume fraction sums to 1. I have even tried using the IPALL routine instead of IPREC and still get the same errors. Can anyone suggest something feasible?? Could it be the geometry file?

Cheers

Try to set the INITIAL GUESS to CONSTANT GUESS (under the command file) and specify the initial volume fractions for both phases. If you have a fluidised bed I believe that you're using the USRINT subroutine. I'd suggest to check out these values under the subroutine.
Good luck, cfd guy

Thanks for your response 'CFD Guy'.

However, I don't believe your suggestion to set a constant guess will make a difference to my problem. The USRINT file overides the initial guess command set in the command file, so changing it to a constant guess will make things unsuitable...

I was considering setting the boundary condition (volume fraction between boundary node [1 0 1] and cell [1 1 1] for example) using USRBCS. Do you think this could be a feasible solution? I am new to the Fortran side of CFX so any help/comments will be valuable.

ps, I am adament there is nothing wrong with my definition of volume fraction in the USERINT file (it works fine for the 2d case).

Cheers

Richie,
All I can say is that I've already had this problem but I don't remember how I fixed it. I believe my problem was the values, I was setting 1 instead of 1.0 for volume fraction in the command file. In the subroutine try to use 1.0d0 (for double precision) instead of 1 (without dot) value.
Good luck, cfd guy

Hello guys I am doing project on "DISTRIBUTATION OF STEAM AND HYDROGEN IN A NUCLEAR REACTOR".hydrogen injection takes place through a hole at bottom.the hydrogen is injected 4% of total volume of contentment, supposing already steam is filled in containtment.I am working on CFX 5.5,Mass source option is disable in software which i am using. So please guide me how to take volume of hydrogen injected in cotaintement.Waiting for your kind response. Thanking You Ashwini Mishra
