Hi,

I have a transient simulation of a stator-rotor system in CFX (.trn and .res). I want to visualize the motion of the rotor in ParaView. The conversion from .res to the single .cgns file using solver manager results in time steps that show all relevant flow information in ParaView, except the motion of the rotor. I have tried all available options available under geometry and mesh export options for exporting as .cgns in the solver manage, but the result has always been a static mesh for the rotor. Does anyone have an idea of what I am missing or may be doing wrong in my conversion process? Thanks.

Opaque will become famous soon enough
If you review your setup, you will notice Ansys CFX solves the rotor domain in the Rotating frame; therefore, the rotor never moves.

There is ONLY relative motion of the interface, but rotor is always in the same computational position. When post-processing in Ansys CFD-Post, there is data in the .res file the post-processor uses to reconstruct the motion.

Not certain Paraview will do the motion even if this data exists since that seems like an internal data of Ansys CFX/CFD Post.

Ah, that makes sense! Thank you. I'm trying to figure a way to manually rotate the geometry in PV (without much luck), but that would a question for another forum.
