"substituting" grids in 5.6

Can I substitute one grid with another in Pre (same geometry and physics) without having to define the whole problem all over again? I've read that if you create a new GTM file in Build the additions made in a previous session of Pre is overwritten... or don't I understand it correctly? Surely having the pre-processing separate from the grid-generation should allow for substituting grids?

Hi Louwrens,
I found the best way of doing this is to start a new simulation, import your new grid, then import the CCL from the original problem. Of course, you need to have the original CCL file, this can be easily created with cfx5cmds (see the documentation if you don't know what this means). Your simulation will be ready to go straight to the def file if it has the same domain and boundary condition names, otherwise a small amount of finishing up will be required. Regards, Glenn |

You don't have to use cfx5cmds. Just import the CCL-file from either a .def or a .res file. (Choose from drop doen list). The CCL will be extracted from that. - Michael Bo

Better still, save the FLOW>FLOW and required LIBRARY sections of your CCL directly from PRE. You can then use this as a template. When you start a new problem, choose the Model Library option and browse to select the ccl you saved. If you have a mesh with all the same names, the boundary conditions will be applied automatically.
