Have anyone run accross a similar problem before:
I'm defining 2d regions in Build 5.6, and it instead of defining the region, it just does nothing... I don't get an error message, but the following lines get written in the journal file: INTEGER cfx5_create_2d_region_istat cfx5_create_2d_region( "rotor blades", "Coord 0", "rotor domain", "WALL", @ "Surface 7:9 16:18", "", "", "", "", ["WALL"], cfx5_create_2d_region_istat ) $# (PCL) Bad array subscript $# Extra information: ret_msg $# Call traceback... $# Function CFX5_CHT.CHT_ERROR, Line Number 4952 $# Function CFX5_CHT.NON_VMI_FACE, Line Number 4738 $# Function CFX5_CHT.GET_ZONE, Line Number 4355 $# Function CFX5_CREATE_2D_REGION, Line Number 5751 $# Function CFX5_CREATE_2D_REGION.APPLY_CB, Line Number 4954 $# Execution aborted Any ideas why this would happen? The fact that the region is not created is not currently critical, but it kinda bugs me... Cheers Louwrens |

The 2d region consists of 2 blades of compressor... I got it working now by first defining the region using 1 blade, and then adding the second blade by modifying the region. so no answers, just more questions!
???????????????????????????????????????? ;-) L |

Hi Louwrens,
As discussed in the CFX customer letter on the CFX community web page, CFX-Build has now been withdrawn from sale as of 15 September, and is to be replaced with (I believe) a package called cad2mesh. If you are having problems with build then I recommend waiting until you get cad2mesh and give that a try. On a similar vein, it is interesting that CFX withdraws CFX-Build from sale before its replacement is available. Does that mean CFX is currently selling its software without a mesh generator? I might be reading the letter too literally, but it does seem strange to publically announce that you are stopping supply of one package when the replacement is not yet available. Regards, Glenn |

Hi Glenn
All would be well in a perfect world, right! ;-) I predict that Build will still be used for at least until the licenses run out... if you have a user base as big as it has, you don't just replace it overnight and pretend as if it was never there! Build has got a well-established user base and hence I feel that they (CFX) should also at least give problem support till the original licenses run out. But then that's just my opinion, right? No doubt the new program will be bigger, better, with more bells and whistles and even make coffee when your brain is fried from staring at little blocks and triangles, it's gonna take a while for all of us to get to use that productively. Which unfortunately still doesn't solve my current problem... why's Build acting up like my buddy's crazy girlfriend? Yeah, its Friday, and all work is postponed due to lack of interest.... L |
