Spraying a fluid

Hi all,

I would like to model the spraying of a fluid and predict the resulting droplet size distribution. Therefore a correct model for breakup and coalescense of the fluid is mandatory. Did anyone perform such a simulation before? If so could you share some hints and tips?

Kind regards, Pascale

Depends on what you want. I have not yet seen any commercial model that can handle the total atomization from the break up of a film/and or ligaments to large droplets. You would have to guess an initial size distribution. If that is what you need you could look at http://hugin.aue.auc.dk/ where the droplet size distribution from a pressure swirl atomizer was investigated numerically and experimentally in a recent M.Sc. student project by Jette Harbo
