Conduction-only run possible?

Default Conduction-only run possible?

Has anyone tried to do only heat conduction (thermal equation only) solution for a solid in CFX5.6? I know it is possible in Fluent, but now I use CFX and I would really appreciate this possibility.

When exporting def file from CFXPre, it complains about no fluid domain being set up.

Thanks for your ideas.

Hi Martin,

CFX-5 requires that you have at least one fluid domain. If you only want to solve heat conduction, do the following:

1. Define your fluid properties to match your solid properties, 2. Set up your fluid Domain as you normally would, but set the turbulence model to laminar, 3. Set your velocity initial guess to zero, 4. Set your advection scheme to upwind to avoid vertex gradient calculations, 5. Set the expert parameter "solve fluids = f" to turn of the hydro equations.

If you have additional solids, you can define them as CHT solids.
