temperature at opening BC
 

Hi ...,

I am solving a problem having fluid flow and heat transfer, in which i am giving inlet and outlet as opening type of boundary conditions and i only know the temperature of inlet only. But cfx asks for static temperature at outlet opening boundary condition also. so please tell me what should i do now.

Often at an outlet, flow may be directed to one side or the other resulting in backflow on the other side of the outlet. This is equivalent to having an eddy smack in the middle of your boundary. If the boundary is an official OUTLET, then CFX puts walls up to prevent the backflow. If it is an OPENING, then CFX needs a temperature to applied to the incoming fluid. If there is no "inflow" at the outlet end of your model (specified as an opening) then the temperature will not be applied. Same is true for other additional variables.

Note: this type of situation should be avoided if possible by moving the boundary further downstream.
