Hello everyone.

I am new to using ANSYS CFX and am currently working on a simulation model on ANSYS CFX. It consists of a dome structure which is experiencing wind velocity due to atmospheric turbulence.
So, due to the wind velocity, there would be minor fluctuations in the refractive index over the dome.

I wish to add refractive index as a variable or an expression using which I can know the changes in 'n' because of the wind velocity.

Thanks in advance for comments and advice.

PS While trying to set up an expression for the same, I did find refractive index as an option under

Definition---> Variable---> Reference Pressure---> Rotation Velocity Z---> Refractive Index

but I don't know if I can use it or how.

I presume you are using the refractive index for radiation modelling.

I thought refractive index was a material property, so you can try making that a CEL expression as a function of whatever you want.

Thank you Sir for acknowledging my problem. Since I am new to the software, can you please let me know how refractive index as a CEL expression.

I tried to make a new expression namely 'delta n' and I had selected the variable 'Refractive Index' as it's value. But I could not run CFX as it showed that the value of delta n should be in the format 'delta n = value'.

The best place to learn CEL is with the CFX tutorials. They are available on the ANSYS Customer website, or the ANSYS academic website if you are a student.

The list of available variables are in the CFX documentation, in the reference guide in the section on CEL.

Opaque will become famous soon enough
Try DeltaN instead
