Error detected by routine MAKDAT

Hi, Does anyone know what following error message mean? I got a a converged solution, but at the end of execution I got following error message and no result file was written.

Details of error:- ---------------- Error detected by routine MAKDAT CDANAM = DFMIN CDTYPE = REAL ISIZE = 4 CRESLT = OLD

+--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Stopped in routine MEMERR | | | | | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+

+--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | An error has occurred in cfx5solve: | | | | The CFX-5 solver has terminated without writing a results file. | | Command on host fntw5000 exited with return code 0. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+

End of solution stage.

Re: Error detected by routine MAKDAT

Hi San,

It looks like the solver has run out of memory. Occassionally the automatic memory management gets it wrong and does not allocate enough memory for the solver. Try running the job again, but increase the memory allocation factor to 1.2. This can be found on the advanced options on the solver manager when you start a run. For some rare circumstances 1.2 might not be enough and you may need to increase it further.

Regards, Glenn

Re: Error detected by routine MAKDAT

Dear San,

It seems yoo are running CFX-5.7 release version. If you read the release notes that came with your package, you will find this particular error documented (Multiband radiation back end failure).

Please contact you CFX local support representative early tomorrow and they will provide you with a new executable...Do not forget to specify which platform you are running on, to speed things up..

Good luck. Juan Carlos

I have increased the memory allocation factor to 3.But there still have this problem.
Details of error:-
----------------
Error detected by routine MAKDAT
Illegal data area length CDANAM = NCOMPT CDTYPE = INTR ISIZE = 0
CRESLT = SIZE

Current Directory : /INTERP/SOLUTION/DST/VX
I'm confused about this ,can you gave me some suggestions?

It might be a post from 9 years ago but I am still here :)

If you increase the memory allocation factor to a large amount and it still fails then you have a serious problem with your simulation. Are you using an interpolation function?

Dear ghorrocks
Firstly ,thank you for your reply.
In my simulation , physical properties of some materials are function about temprature. You mean I should check the expression in CFX?But the physical properties is right, beacause I had used it to do a simulation in a single CFX(ANSYS 14.0),This error happend when I trying to use workbench to do the same simulation(ANSYS 14.5).
Yours sincerely

The error seems to suggest a problem with interpoltion, so if you have material properties as a function of temperature this may be the cause. So time to do soem basic bug finding - do a model with normal constant properties, then introduce the variable properties one at a time until you find the one which causes the problem.
